Ameren Illinois Launches New “Energize Your Town” Pilot Program, Selects Taylorville as First Community

TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (May 21, 2026) - Ameren Illinois has announced the launch of its new initiative, Energize Your Town, and the City of Taylorville has been selected as the very first community to participate in the program.

Energize Your Town is designed to serve as a comprehensive resource for energy efficiency solutions in communities served by Ameren Illinois, helping residents, businesses, and public buildings reduce energy usage while empowering a brighter, more sustainable future. Through dedicated time with the Ameren Illinois Energy Efficiency Program staff, personalized support, community collaboration, energy education, and available financial incentives, the initiative makes energy efficiency simple and accessible for customers across the community.

The program works closely with local leadership and community organizations to identify opportunities, address challenges, and develop targeted energy efficiency projects tailored to local needs. Energize Your Town focuses on delivering customized improvements that maximize energy savings, enhance comfort, and provide health and safety benefits for both residential and business customers.

The Ameren Illinois team has already been actively working with local officials, business owners, and residents to educate and inform them about how the utility's energy efficiency programs can benefit the community. Upcoming projects through Energize Your Town include work at the Christian County Courthouse, along with additional municipal and community facilities.

Energy efficiency program staff have been meeting with Taylorville residents through community groups like Kiwanis Club and at community events like the Twilight Christmas Parade to educate customers which programs are best suited to assist with their home's energy use. Taylorville residents and businesses will continue to see them throughout town this summer and fall as they continue to spread the word and educate how Ameren Illinois can support and maximize their energy savings
