Coastal flooding forces South Kihei Road closure from North Kihei to Ohukai roads
More coastal flooding today, Aug. 9, 2025, forced the full closure of South Kihei Road from North Kihei Road to Ohukai Road due to safety concerns, according to the County of Maui Department of Public Works (DPW). Only local traffic is permitted.
National Weather Service (NWS) in Honolulu issued a coastal flood statement in effect through Sunday night for low-lying coastal areas throughout the state. A NWS High Surf Advisory is also in effect for all south-facing shores through 6 a.m. Monday.
