Police Locate and Detain Suspect Following Deadly Stabbing in the Hazelwood Neighborhood

Portland Police Officers located and detained a suspect following a fatal stabbing in the Hazelwood Neighborhood.

On Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 2:19 a.m. Portland Police Officers assigned to East Precinct responded to a report of a stabbing in the 10200 block of Southeast Pine Street. When officers arrived, they located a victim in a parking lot and they administered trauma first aid. Emergency Medical Services arrived and paramedics transported the victim to the hospital by ambulance for treatment.

Meanwhile other officers were searching the area located a suspect near East Burnside Street and Southeast 102nd Avenue and detained him at approximately 2:48 a.m.

No additional suspects are currently being sought.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the victim died at the hospital.

Portland Police Homicide Unit Detectives responded to the scene to investigate. During the investigation, the area around Southeast 102nd Avenue and Southeast Pine Street is closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
