WASHINGTON - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced five National Institutes of Health grants totaling $2,882,421 to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The congressman announced three grants from the National Cancer Institute to St. Jude, totaling $1,172,297, on Monday and six grants from three other National Institutes, totaling $2,843,327 on Wednesday.
St. Jude has received $6,898,045 in NIH grants this week.
The grants announced today include two from the National Cancer Institute, one from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, one from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, and one from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute.
Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"This has been an excellent week for St. Jude scientists. This substantial funding from the National Institutes of Health will support the work of researchers and their lab assistants improving not just the important work they are doing but also the regional economy strengthened by St. Jude being in our community."
