Kean, Amo and Colleagues Reintroduce Bipartisan Resolution Supporting Global Vaccine and Immunization Access through Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance

(October 31, 2025) WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Representatives Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) and Gabe Amo (RI-01) and a group of colleagues reintroduced a bipartisan resolution affirming the United States' commitment to global vaccine and immunization efforts through Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. Gavi is a public-private partnership that has saved millions of lives by expanding access to lifesaving vaccines in lower-income countries.

Since its founding in 2000, Gavi has helped immunize more than 1.1 billion children in 78 countries, averting an estimated 18.8 million deaths from vaccine-preventable illnesses such as measles, polio, malaria, and Ebola. Gavi's life-changing work has been central to reducing global child mortality by 70 percent in low-income countries, while strengthening health systems and improving economic growth and poverty reduction across the developing world.

This resolution:

• Affirms the United States' continued support for the purchase of vaccines for low-income countries through Gavi as a cost-effective, efficient means to reduce preventable child and maternal deaths.
• Supports Gavi's mission to expand access to new and routine immunizations, improve sustainability of immunization programs, ensure healthy markets for vaccines, and strengthen health systems.
• Recognizes that U.S. support for Gavi enhances global and domestic health security by preventing outbreaks at their source.
• Encourages the continued use of State Department and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) resources to strengthen local public health capacity for new and underutilized vaccines.
• Calls for increased commitment and investment by the United States for the 2026 to 2030 strategic period to allow Gavi to maximize its impact and leverage contributions from other countries and donors.
