FAU Foundation Board Welcomes New Members

The Florida Atlantic University Foundation recently welcomed Susan Ball '13, Michael Gray and Craig Weiner to its board of directors. The new board members were recently approved by the FAU Board of Trustees. Each will serve a three-year term, which began on July 1.

The Florida Atlantic University Foundation recently welcomed Susan Ball '13, Michael Gray and Craig Weiner to its board of directors. The new board members were recently approved by the FAU Board of Trustees. Each will serve a three-year term, which began on July 1.

"The FAU Foundation Board plays a vital role in advancing Florida Atlantic's mission by strengthening philanthropic support for the university's students, research and programs," said Brian Poulin, FAU Foundation Board chair. "We are pleased to welcome these new members, whose leadership, expertise and commitment will help expand opportunities across the university and larger community."

Ball serves as the legal advisor to Cross Country Healthcare's CEO and board of directors. Before practicing law, she was a registered nurse, giving her unique insight into the company's legal matters. Ball is a member of both the Florida and New York bar, earning a J.D. from New York Law School, magna cum laude; an MBA from Florida Atlantic University, magna cum laude; and a B.S. from Ohio State University, cum laude. Ball was recognized with an OnCon Icon Award as a "Top 50 Corporate Counsel" in the world in 2024 and again in 2026.

Gray is a partner at the global law firm Jones Day. Named by Forbes in its 2024 inaugural list of "America's Top 200 Lawyers," Gray is recognized as one of the country's leading corporate advisors and employment litigators. An accomplished trial lawyer, he is known for his achievements in managing and resolving mass litigation, class action and multi plaintiff employment discrimination and wage-hour lawsuits. He is a member of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center Executive Committee, co-founder of the American Heart Association Counsel for a Cause campaign, and board member of Jones Day Foundation. He recently received the 2024 IHMEC Humanitarian of the Year Award and the American Heart Association's 2024 Hasbrouck Heart Award for exceptional community leadership and a passion for improving the lives around him.

Weiner is the president of Craig R. Weiner Associates, Inc., a real estate development and investment company established in South Florida in 1977. In 2011, he and his wife Barbara founded Holocaust Learning and Education Fund, Inc., a nonprofit organization that promotes and conducts the teaching of Holocaust education. The organization provides Holocaust education to Palm Beach and Broward County public and private schools. Weiner is also the president and founder of the Holocaust Museums of South Florida, located on the campuses of FAU and Nova Southeastern University. The mission of these permanently endowed museums is to teach students the importance of learning through Holocaust history, the importance of standing up against all forms of hate, prejudice, intolerance and bullying. Additionally, the Weiners founded and permanently endowed the annual Florida Holocaust Reflection Contest in which students and teachers from all middle and high schools throughout Florida are eligible to participate. The Weiners were presented with the Southeast Leadership Award by the United States Holocaust Museum in 2022 and the Humanitarian of the Year Award by a South Florida community organization in 2023.

Additionally, the FAU Foundation Board added Lance Moore, president of Student Government at FAU; James Sadowsky, chair of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Boca Raton; and Richard Kollmeyer, chair of Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Jupiter; as ex-officio members.

The FAU Foundation Board is comprised of dedicated alumni and friends of the university who volunteer their time and expertise to oversee fundraising efforts and manage the foundation's nearly $500 million in assets. Operating under the Division of Institutional Advancement, the 501(c)3 nonprofit foundation is a fiduciary and steward of donors' gifts and wishes.
