The St. Albert Policing Committee has released its 2026/2027 policing priorities.
In February 2025, the Policing Committee invited residents to share their perspectives on local policing to help shape the Committee's recommendations to City Council. That feedback helped guide the priorities being released for 2026/2027.
The Policing Committee has created the following four key policing priorities to guide RCMP operations in 2026/2027:
"We're grateful to everyone who took the time to share their insights on what they want to see in St. Albert so that we continuously work towards ensuring everyone feels safe, welcome and that the RCMP is being responsive to their needs," says Bill Turnham, Policing Committee Chair.
"These priorities are more than just words on paper to me and the entire team within the St. Albert RCMP," says Inspector Aaron White, Officer in Charge of the St. Albert RCMP detachment. "Reducing crime, supporting our vulnerable communities and being there for individuals on some of their hardest days are what bring us into work every day. We are here to ensure you feel safe out on the roads, in your homes and wherever you go in the community."
The St. Albert Policing Committee is a legislative body established under the Policing Committee Bylaw 13/2019, working alongside City Council and the RCMP to maintain a safe and accountable community. It serves as a liaison between City Council, the RCMP Detachment and residents to encourage community participation in creating safe and secure neighbourhoods. For complete details on its composition, purpose and responsibilities, please refer to the St. Albert Policing Committee Bylaw.
