United States Disrupts Iran’s Proliferation-Sensitive Efforts in Support of UN Restrictions

Over a year ago, UN sanctions and other restrictive measures on Iran were restored following completion of the snapback process by the UN Security Council in response to Iran's continuing "significant non-performance" of its nuclear commitments. In support of Operation Economic Outcast, today the United States is sanctioning eight entities and five individuals in relation to Iran's procurement and proliferation of weapons and weapons components, in violation of the renewed UN measures.

Over the last year, Iran has continued its attempts to procure arms and related materiel, expanding its destabilizing activities in violation of the restored UN measures. Today's sanctions target these activities and third-country entities that further Iran's defense industry and proliferation activities. President Trump has been clear: Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon, nor should its missile and arms programs be permitted to endanger international peace and security.

The United States has taken sustained action to enforce the reimposed measures and deny Iran access to resources supporting its nuclear, missile, and conventional-arms programs. Since September 2025, the United States has imposed dozens of sanctions targeting procurement networks tied to Iran's proliferation programs, rallied representatives from 40 countries to strengthen implementation and enforcement of the reimposed UN measures, and provided updated identifying information for Iranian entities and individuals listed on the UN Consolidated Sanctions List - information that the UN Security Council has been unable to implement due to the obstruction of Russia and China.

Additionally, the U.S. Department of State's Rewards for Justice program is offering a reward of up to $15 million for information leading to the disruption of the financial mechanisms of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its various branches to sever the economic lifelines that sustain the Iranian regime. More information is available on the RFJ website.The United States calls on all UN Member States to fully implement their binding obligations. We will continue working with partners to disrupt Iran's proliferation networks and deny the Iranian regime access to the goods, technology, financing, and services that contribute to these activities.

The Department of State's action was taken pursuant to E.O. 13949, which targets certain persons with respect to the conventional arms activities of Iran. Rewards for Justice is authorized to offer this reward under 22 U.S.C. § 2708. The Department of the Treasury's action was taken pursuant to E.O. 13382, which targets proliferators of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and their means of delivery.
