The Advisory Council of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation Holds Video Meeting

On January 27, 2026, the Advisory Council of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held a video meeting and released a research report titled "The Belt and Road Initiative: High-Quality International Economic Cooperation".

Convenor of the Advisory Council and Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu delivered remarks at the meeting. He noted that against the backdrop of accelerating changes unseen in a century, severe challenges facing the post-war international system and international order, and serious damage to the multilateral trading system, countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) are committed to enhancing connectivity, pursuing common development, and engaging in mutually beneficial international cooperation. This has sent a positive signal of unity, cooperation and win-win outcomes, brought stability and positive energy to the world, and become an important force to move history forward. He said that the BRI is an international public good originating from China but belonging to the world, and serves as a practical platform for building a community with a shared future for humanity. China will continue to deepen partnerships with all parties, make the BRI a path of prosperity, cooperation and opportunity, and contribute more to the stable growth of the world economy and the sound development of international economic and trade cooperation.

Members of the Advisory Council stated that the BRI has played a significant role in promoting global economic growth and advancing sustainable development. In the current international context, the BRI has made substantial contributions to enhancing mutual trust among countries and fostering international cooperation. They suggested that BRI participants strengthen cooperation in areas such as connectivity, international trade, artificial intelligence, and digital economy.
