Troop Supports honors June retiree with over 35 years of service.

After 39 years of dedicated service to the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support, senior leaders gathered to honor Clothing & Textile Supervisor Tom Zassick on June 29, 2026.

"Celebrating employees like Tom, who gave selflessly to this organization and the Warfighters around the world, is one of the best parts of being a commander," said DLA Troop Support Commander Brig. Gen Sean P Kelly, who presided over the ceremony.

"You are a true leader. You wanted the best for your team and supported them no matter what. You did not hoard your knowledge. You shared it freely to ensure every team member could deliver world-class support. You listened, you mentored and you developed others. That is the mark of true leadership, and that is the legacy you leave behind Tom."

Zassick thanked the Commander for taking a portion of his day to honor him, followed by giving his appreciation to friends for attending.

"My first goal was to take care of my team," said Zassick. "I was only as good as my team was. If I took care of them, they took care of me. Sometimes I looked at myself as a conductor of an orchestra, but my team handled the work."

During his retirement, he plans to do a lot of traveling and spend time volunteering.

"Please accept my most sincere gratitude for all you have done in service to our nation, the Defense Logistics Agency and most importantly, the men and women of the armed forces," Kelly added. "On behalf of myself and the entire workforce, I wish you all the best in your well-deserved and earned retirement. Congratulations!"
