On March 12, 2026, Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Chinese Consul General in Johannesburg, attended the Chinese New Year Party held by Standard Bankand Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC). Mr. Li Li, Chief Representative Officer of ICBC Africa Representative Office, Mr. Andrew Robertson, Head of Business & Enablement BCB Standard Bank and about 70 representatives of Chinese and South African enterprises were present.
In his speech, Mr. Pan briefed the just concluded Two Sessions of China, the development of relations between China and South Africa and the economic and trade cooperation. He stated that with its more promising economy, China will further expand high-level opening up, adhere to win-win cooperation, fully implement the zero-tariff measures for products from Africa, so that South Africa and other African countries can enjoy vast development opportunities, and the turbulent world can be offered with valuable stability and certainty. The Consul General encouraged Chinese and South African enterprises to strengthen cooperation in trade and investment, so that the development of China-South Africa relations can better benefit the two peoples.
