Merkley, Wyden Announce Over $37.4 Million in Federal Funds for Oregon to Support Safe Drinking Water Infrastructure

Washington, D.C. - Oregon's U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley and Ron Wyden today announced that Oregon will receive more than $37.4 million in federal funding through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund to support critical drinking water infrastructure projects across the state.

"Reliable access to clean water is essential for the health and safety of Oregon communities," said Merkley, Ranking Member of the Senate Interior-Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, which funds this program. "Oregonians in every corner of the state should be able to turn on their tap with confidence that their drinking water is safe and reliable. These federal funds will help communities replace aging water infrastructure, strengthen public health protections, and ensure clean drinking water for generations to come."

"All Oregonians deserve clean water and achieving that vital public health mission requires consistent and robust federal investment in modern infrastructure throughout our state," said Wyden. "I'm glad our work to secure these federal resources has produced today's good news for clean drinking water in Oregon communities, and I'll keep battling to ensure similar statewide investments in the years ahead."

As Lead Democrat of the Senate Interior-Environment Appropriations Subcommittee, Merkley secured a total of $2.76 billion in Fiscal Year 2026 nationwide for the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Funds, which provide funding for water and wastewater projects across the country.

Merkley and Wyden have long been champions for more resources to address aging water infrastructure. Earlier this year, the Senators secured critical federal funding for community-initiated projects to help provide clean drinking water to communities across Oregon.
