The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with the President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Recalling the results of the fifth Italy-Algeria Summit last July, the two leaders reviewed bilateral relations, confirming the shared commitment to strengthening economic cooperation between the two nations. In particular, the call provided an opportunity to examine the progress of the joint initiatives under the Mattei Plan, including the launch of work at the Italian-Algerian 'Enrico Mattei' Centre of Excellence for training, research and innovation in the agricultural sector, in Sidi Bel Abbes, and the advancement of the desert farming project.
During their conversation, the two leaders also focused on cooperation regarding migration, confirming their shared commitment to combatting human trafficking.
At the end of the call, the Algerian President extended an invitation to visit Algeria, which President Meloni accepted.
