Guatemalan National Sentenced for Immigration Offense

HAMMOND - Fairon Daniel Carpio-Beteta, 37 years old, of Guatemala, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Gretchen S. Lund after pleading guilty to felony reentry of removed alien, announced United States Attorney Adam L. Mildred

Fairon Daniel Carpio-Beteta was sentenced to time served followed by 1 year of supervised release, and a $100 Special Assessment. The supervised release term will go into effect if Carpio-Beteta remains in, or returns to, the United States within that period following expected removal proceedings.

According to documents in the case, Carpio-Beteta was previously removed from the United States on two prior occasions in September 2019 and November 2019.

"The Defendant has been deported previously and clearly did not respect our nation's laws, borders, or her sovereignty then or when he illegally returned. Once he is released, the Defendant needs leave and not return again to the United States illegally," said U.S. Attorney Adam Mildred.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nadia Wardrip.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime.
