The Terra State Community College Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of Dr. Chad Breeden as Interim President, effective July 20, 2026.
Dr. Breeden brings extensive experience in higher education leadership, governance, strategic planning, and partnership development. He holds a doctorate in Community College Leadership and has served as a university trustee, providing valuable experience from both administrative and governance perspectives. Additionally, his experience spans senior military and executive leadership, with more than thirty years of experience leading large and complex organizations. Dr. Breeden currently serves as Vice President of Operations for the United State Naval Community College.
"The Board of Trustees is excited to welcome Dr. Breeden to Terra State Community College," said Mircea Handru, chairperson of the Terra State Board of Trustees. "His commitment to financial stewardship, enrollment growth, academic excellence, and community engagement aligns strongly with Terra State's mission. We were particularly impressed by his focus on leading by example, building trust, serving with integrity, and supporting our employees, students, and community partners."
The Board expressed confidence that Dr. Breeden will strengthen relationships across campus and throughout the region while guiding the college through its current period of transition.
A campus-wide welcome event and community forum will be held providing students, employees, and community members an opportunity to meet Dr. Breeden and hear his vision for the college. Additional details will be announced at a later date.
