In conjunction with International Archives Week, Yukon Archives is announcing the launch of its new online database, which makes it easier than ever for the public to search, find and learn from historical records.
For the first time, descriptive information for close to 400,000 records is available in one place. This includes photographs, maps, sound recordings, films and many other materials.
The database features a clean, user-friendly design and improved navigation, allowing visitors to quickly search by keyword, creator or date. Dynamic features help users move easily between related records, making research faster and more enjoyable.
The new database is available at search-archives.service.yukon.ca.
This unified database represents a major step forward in how we share Yukon Archives' invaluable collections with the public. This investment strengthens transparency, supports research and education, and ensures our shared history is more accessible to communities across the territory and beyond.
Minister of Economic Development, Tourism and Culture Jen Gehmair
By bringing together descriptive information for more than 30,000 records into a single, modern and searchable platform, the new system will greatly benefit researchers, educators, heritage professionals and the public. Features such as integrated audio and video previews, digitized image thumbnails and accessible finding aids will make archival materials more visible, intuitive and engaging than ever before.
