Guilty Verdict for Tallahassee Felon Caught with Handgun & Ammunition

Tallahassee, Florida - Jarvis Myers, 40, of Tallahassee, Florida, was found guilty by a federal jury in Tallahassee following a two-day jury trial for possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon. The verdict was announced by John P. Heekin, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Florida.

U.S. Attorney Heekin said: "Thanks to the excellent investigative work of the Leon County Sheriff's Office, with support from our federal law enforcement officers, my office has successfully prosecuted this dangerous felon and we will see to it that he is held accountable. We remain laser-focused on our mission to deliver the safe, crime-free streets that our citizens deserve, and my tenacious prosecutors will continue to aggressively pursue anyone who dares to violate federal law in our district."

According to trial testimony, on May 31, 2024, law enforcement executed a search warrant on an Airbnb residence rented by the defendant and a vehicle he possessed. During their search, deputies found a loaded handgun partially concealed beneath a bed pillow, as well as a full box of ammunition in a duffle bag containing personal items belonging to the defendant. As a convicted felon, the defendant was legally prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.

The case was jointly investigated by the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorney Emma Schwan is prosecuting the case.

Sentencing is scheduled for December 10, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the United States Courthouse in Tallahassee before United States District Judge Mark E. Walker.
