PHILADELPHIA, PA -Chellie Cameron, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia, has been elected Chair of the Metro Cities Council, the national network of chamber CEOs serving America's largest metropolitan areas within the Associate of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE).
The appointment puts Greater Philadelphia at the center of a conversation happening in every major American city: how to grow jobs and help people achieve economic mobility. Council members exchange strategy, share best practices, and tackle the challenges unique to the nation's largest metro economies.
"Big metros are where some of the hardest economic problems live, and where the answers get tested first," said Cameron. "Greater Philadelphia is eleven counties strong, and getting a region that size pulling in one direction is hard work we've made real progress on. No chamber solves this alone. That's what this Council is for, and I'm glad to bring Philadelphia's lessons to the table."
As Chair, Cameron will guide the Council's agenda, including its biannual in-person meetings and ongoing peer exchange among member CEOs.
"America's largest metros face complex challenges, and chambers provide the trusted leadership to turn shared priorities into measurable progress," said ACCE President & CEO Sheree Anne Kelly. "The challenges they face require an understanding of regional complexity and a commitment to collaborative solutions. Chellie Cameron has demonstrated both. We are excited to have her leading the Council's work to help metro chambers strengthen regional economies."
Cameron has led the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia since 2022, driving the organization's focus on economic mobility and regional competitiveness across the eleven-county Greater Philadelphia region. Before joining the Chamber, Cameron served as CEO of the Philadelphia International Airport and Northeast Philadelphia Airport, where she represented the region in local, state, national and international affairs and led one of the country's largest airport systems. Her election as Chair to the Metro Cities Council adds to a track record of national leadership roles spanning aviation, economic development and chamber advocacy.
