On October 27th, Minister of National Defence, Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu, had a meeting with representatives of the Romanian Business Leaders (RBL) Foundation, in order to enhance dialogue between the civil business environment and the defence sector.
The meeting's agenda included discussions on ways to collaborate between the private sector and the defence establishment, especially in areas such as digitalization, cyber security, development of dual-use capabilities, research and innovation. Thus, the usefulness of this type of dialogue was recognized and is meant to stimulate the transfer of knowledge and technologies among academia, innovative industries and defence structures, as well as to support applied research projects in areas such as cyber security, artificial intelligence and communications for military infrastructure.
Minister of National Defence has emphasized that Romania has real potential in the technological field, but solid bridges are needed between research, entrepreneurship and defence requirements. At the same time, the official assured the RBL representatives of the MoND's openness to collaborate, emphasizing the usefulness of continuing such discussions in the future to further expand on the topics.
Thus, the development of dual innovation ecosystems, with both civilian and military applications, as well as encouraging Romanian start-ups to participate in research and innovation projects in the field of defence, including by accessing European funds, are some of the benefits that can result from the openness to constant communication.
The Romanian Business Leaders Foundation is an independent, non-governmental, apolitical and non-profit organization, established in 2011. The main purpose of the foundation is to promote Romania and the Romanian business environment through programs and activities, mainly in the fields of education, entrepreneurship and good governance.
