HHS Announces RFI on Artificial Intelligence Use in Health Care

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a request for information (RFI) Dec. 19 regarding how the agency can accelerate the adoption and use of artificial intelligence (AI) in clinical care.

HHS seeks feedback on how it can use its regulatory, reimbursement, and research and development levers with AI to enhance productivity, reduce burden, lower health care costs, and improve health outcomes for patients, caregivers, and communities.

The agency would like comments on barriers to private sector AI innovation, legal and implementation challenges, evaluation methods, and patient preferred AI solutions.

The RFI will be published in the Dec. 23 federal register. Responses will be due 60 days after publication.
