Leader Schumer Statement On One Year Of Trump’s Presidency

New York, N.Y. - Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) released the following statement on the first year of Donald Trump's disastrous second term, which has been characterized by skyrocketing costs, military adventurism, and a less secure America:

"In year one of his presidency, Donald Trump made life in America less secure, less healthy, and more expensive.

"Instead of putting America first, he puts Trump first.

"In just 12 short months, he has managed to rip health care away from millions, starve children by cutting food assistance, drive prices higher on everything from energy and housing to groceries, raise taxes on American consumers through higher tariffs, abandon our allies, threaten boots on the ground for his endless wars, grow the national debt, terrorize citizens and communities with ICE, decimate the federal workforce, pardon criminals, threaten the free press, and care more about building a ballroom than the American people.

"Trump wants to rule like a king. But Senate Democrats - and the American people - won't let him. As he continues down this path, he only grows more crazy and more unpopular. We will continue to fight for what families need and care about - lower costs, better health care, and a safer country for all."
