Man Charged with Attempted Criminal Homicide for Thursday Morning Shooting in Napier Homes

Specialized Investigations Division detectives tonight are charging convicted drug felon James C. Jenkins, 45, with attempted criminal homicide for this morning's shooting of Othello Lane, 29, who was wounded in the leg while in the 100 block of Charles E. Davis Boulevard in Napier Homes.

Lane said he was hanging out in a breezeway when he was confronted by a man he knows as "Cheese." Detectives were familiar with a person known by that nickname (Jenkins). Lane then positively identified Jenkins as the man who wounded him when shown a photo lineup. Detectives located Jenkins inside a Lafayette Street apartment this afternoon. He complied with commands to exit and surrender.

Jenkins is also being charged with unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon, felony reckless endangerment, and gun possession in the commission of a dangerous felony.
