Illinois Soybean Growers Welcomes EPA Approval of New Crop Protection Tool

Bloomington, Ill. - July 1, 2026 - Illinois Soybean Growers (ISG) welcomes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's approval yesterday of a suite of new crop protection tools that will help farmers manage weeds, protect yields and support efficient, sustainable soybean production.

Several of the products included in this suite have specific soybean applications, making this action especially important for Illinois farmers. Access to modern crop protection tools is critical as farmers continue to face weed resistance, pest pressure, and the need to protect productivity while adopting practices that improve soil health, including cover crops.

"We appreciate EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and the agency for moving these registrations forward and giving farmers access to additional tools they need to make timely, responsible decisions on their farms," said Illinois Soybean Growers Chairman Bryan Severs. "Illinois soybean farmers rely on science-based regulatory decisions and practical crop protection options to manage weeds, protect yields and remain competitive. This is an important step for soybean production, and we encourage EPA to continue advancing timely reviews that support both productivity and stewardship."

The approvals follow recent federal action focused on promoting regenerative agriculture and farm resilience, including direction for EPA to ensure timely review of modern farming products. ISG appreciates EPA's continued work to provide farmers with access to innovative technologies that support efficient production, long-term farm profitability and sustainability.
