Rep. Friess Announces Former Mentee Selected for Women in Criminal Justice Conference

January 15, 2026

RED BUD, IL - State Representative David Friess announced Thursday morning that Jaydian Montroy, a
former mentee of his Women's Leadership Initiative, has been selected to attend the 16th Annual Illinois
Women in Criminal Justice Conference, a highly selective statewide event dedicated to advancing women
in the criminal justice profession.

The Illinois Women in Criminal Justice Conference, hosted by the ILETSB Executive Institute, is now in its
16th year and brings together professionals from across the state's justice system. Each year, Heather
Hotz, Director of the ILETSB Executive Institute, selects one participant from across Illinois to receive a
full waiver, including registration and two nights of accommodations. Jaydian was chosen from a
competitive field of nominees for this honor.

"Jaydian is exactly the kind of young leader our Women's Leadership Program is designed to support,"
said Rep. Friess. "She comes highly recommended by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, her
peers, and her mentors, and most importantly by our office. Her character, work ethic, and dedication to
the profession truly set her apart."

In its official notification, the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board (ILETSB) Executive
Institute praised Jaydian's outstanding letters of recommendation, highlighting her excellence as a
participant in the Women's Leadership Initiative and noting her strong potential as a future law
enforcement officer.

As a former mentee in Rep. Friess' Women's Leadership Initiative, Jaydian participated in a program
centered on mentorship, leadership development, and preparing young women for future success. Her
selection to attend this conference reflects the lasting impact of mentorship and the importance of
investing in the next generation of leaders.

"I am incredibly proud of Jaydian and all that she has accomplished," Rep. Friess added. "It's inspiring
when you see young leaders right out of high school enter the law enforcement field. Her selection is
well deserved, and I have great confidence she will represent our district with professionalism and
integrity.
