Reps. Roy, Pfluger Introduce Resolution to Honor Victims and Heroes of the Texas Hill Country Floods

Washington, D.C. - Representatives Chip Roy (TX-21) and August Pfluger (TX-11) introduced a resolution today in the House of Representatives honoring the victims and the heroes of the Texas Hill Country Floods.

Representative Roy (TX-21) said:"In the early morning of July 4th, 2025, our beloved Texas Hill Country was struck by catastrophic floods that upended our community, destroyed homes and businesses, and claimed the lives of friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Among those we lost were young girls enjoying summer camp, camp counselors, visitors, and community leaders who never shied away from lending a hand and serving others.

In the months since the floods, the nation witnessed the grit and resilience of our communities - resilience rooted in faith, service, and love of our fellow neighbors and Texans, as well as exceptional heroism in the face of tragedy.

May God continue to protect the Texas Hill Country and all those impacted by these floods. I'm forever grateful and deeply proud to represent the greatest part of the greatest state, in the greatest nation in the history of the world."

Representative Pfluger (TX-11) said:"July 4th, 2025, was a devastating day in Central and West Texas as overwhelming floods swept through our region. While I have been incredibly moved by the way our communities have come together to rebuild and recover at record speeds, I am also painfully aware that no amount of recovery can ever bring the loved ones lost back home. My wife, Camille, and I are eternally grateful that we are reunited with our two daughters, who were present at Camp Mystic during this tragedy. We rejoice in their safety and thank God for sparing their lives, but we are simultaneously still mourning and deeply grieving with the many families who can't say the same. We must honor those who didn't make it home and recognize the extraordinary bravery and selflessness of the heroes who stepped up when they were needed most. I am proud to join Rep. Roy in this resolution to commemorate the lives lost, honor the acts of heroism, and express our commitment to standing with those impacted."

This bill is cosponsored by fellow Texans and Reps. Nathaniel Moran, Dan Crenshaw, Keith Self, Pat Fallon, Lance Gooden, Jake Ellzey, Lizzie Fletcher, Morgan Luttrell, Michael McCaul, Craig Goldman, Ronnie Jackson, Randy Weber, Monica De La Cruz, Pete Sessions, Jodey Arrington, Troy Nehls, Tony Gonzales, Beth Van Duyne, Roger Williams, Brandon Gill, Michael Cloud, Henry Cuellar, Sylvia Garcia, John Carter, Vicente Gonzalez, Brian Babin, and Wesley Hunt.
