Client Advisory: Taiwan (TPE) Air Freight Delays & Flight Cancellations - November 4

WHAT'S THE LATEST

Increased cargo volumes at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) are placing pressure on ground handling resources, potentially affecting shipment processing and departure schedules. Selected China Airlines flights, including US-bound freighter services, have also been cancelled. Below is an overview of the situation and our recommendations for planning air freight shipments from Taiwan.

  • China Airlines, EVA Air and STARLUX Airlines have advised that increased import cargo volumes at TPE are placing pressure on manpower, cargo dollies and handling capacity.
  • Cargo handling may be delayed, export processing may take longer and planned departure schedules may change.
  • Selected China Airlines flights have been cancelled, including US-bound freighter services. Capacity and uplift schedules should be reconfirmed for individual shipments.
  • We recommend sharing shipping forecasts, booking space and tendering cargo as early as possible.

WHAT WE KNOW

GROUND HANDLING DELAYS AT TAOYUAN AIRPORT

China Airlines (CI), EVA Air (BR) and STARLUX Airlines (JX) issued notices on 2 November 2026 advising that increased import cargo volumes at TPE are placing pressure on manpower, cargo dollies and handling capacity.

Potential impacts include:

  • Delays in cargo breakdown, build-up and subsequent handling
  • Longer export cargo processing times
  • Changes to planned shipment departure schedules

The airlines have asked shippers to tender cargo early and allow additional time for handling.

CHINA AIRLINES FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS

SEKO Taiwan has received notifications of selected China Airlines flight cancellations, including US-bound freighter services. Available capacity and uplift schedules should therefore be reconfirmed for individual shipments. Your local SEKO representative can confirm the latest status for your cargo.

SEKO'S GUIDANCE

SEKO recommends that customers and overseas partners:

  • Share shipping forecasts and book space as early as possible.
  • Arrange early cargo tender in coordination with the local SEKO team.
  • Allow additional time for cargo handling, flight connections and delivery.
  • Highlight urgent or time-sensitive shipments early so available options can be assessed.

Space availability and actual uplift remain subject to airline confirmation and prevailing operating conditions.

Our Taiwan team is monitoring developments and coordinating with airline partners to assess shipment impacts and available alternatives. If you have questions or need assistance for shipment-specific updates, please reach out to your SEKO representative or email us at [email protected].
