Rep. Aguilar Announces Over $7 Million to Expand HIV Prevention and Treatment Services in the Inland Empire

SAN BERNARDINO, CA - Today, Rep. Pete Aguilar announced $7,222,313 in grant funding for expanded access to HIV prevention and treatment services for communities who face cost barriers to care in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. This funding ensures public health teams can maintain outreach and early intervention efforts while providing comprehensive care to individuals living with HIV, including prevention, testing, treatment and other supportive services. Additionally, this investment will support partnerships with community organizations and enable county public health departments to reduce new HIV infections and overall improve health outcomes in the region.

"No one in the Inland Empire should go without receiving lifesaving care simply because they can't afford it," said Rep. Pete Aguilar. "I'm proud to announce this grant funding for San Bernardino and Riverside Counties so residents can access affordable and quality HIV treatment and prevention services close to home."

"This federal grant is an investment in the health and well-being for residents in the region," said Board of Supervisors Vice Chair and Fifth District Supervisor Joe Baca Jr. "By providing access to HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and supportive services, we can help reduce health disparities, improve outcomes and ensure more people receive care before a crisis occurs."

The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' HIV Emergency Relief Project Grants.
