What Voters Are Saying About Vivek Ramaswamy: "For the Data Centers," "Lot of Empty Promises"

Columbus, Ohio- Last week, The Bulwark talked to voters on the ground about what they think about Vivek Ramaswamy, and it wasn't good news for Ohio's most notorious jet-setting billionaire.

Ohioans know Ramaswamy is a billionaire whose wealth has more than doubled during his run for governor, all while he's called Ohioans "lazy" and "mediocre" and said families hurting from "perceived" higher costs should just make more money. While working families on the ground are struggling, Ramaswamy is treating Ohio like a flyover state in his private jet and refuses to sell his stock in data centers.

"Voters are seeing right through Vivek Ramaswamy's scams for Ohio," said Ohio Democratic Party spokeswoman Katie Seewer. "Ohioans know Ramaswamy can't be trusted to lower costs for working families, rein in out-of-control data centers, or even meet Ohioans on the ground instead of flying above them in his private jet."

• Voter: I just know Vivek is extremely rich. Not that that's a bad thing, but most of the people in power are and they just have no clue what it's like to be a middle class person right now.

• Voter: My thoughts on Ramaswamy, it's like anybody who's involved like he gave me, like made me skeptical about him because of how he's involved, was involved in the pharmaceutical industry and like that's like a big like questionable thing for me.

• Voter: The only thing I've heard about him is that he's for the data centers. And I think about how does that helps me as a person, as a working person? You know, we want a surveillance state here? Because that's what this is helping to establish. So, anybody who's for data centers […] I don't give a rat's ass about you.

• Voter: I just think it's a lot of empty promises, how he said about the data center that he would pay our electricity or something like that, that whatever got raised he would pay them, but I don't believe that.
