Buckeye police join national effort to increase seat belt use

BUCKEYE, AZ (April 23, 2026): The Buckeye Police Department is set to participate in the Click It or Ticket National Enforcement Campaign kicking off next week. The enforcement initiative that starts May 18 and runs through May 31 raises awareness of the importance of buckling up and using appropriate child safety seats.

Buckeye police were recently awarded $10,000 in grants from the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety to support our participation in the Click It or Ticket campaign, covering personnel costs and employee-related expenses for enhanced enforcement. During Click It or Ticket, officers will conduct intensive traffic enforcement of seat belt and child safety seat violations.

In Arizona, more than 1,200 people were killed in traffic crashes last year, according to the 2024 Motor Vehicle Crash Facts for the State of Arizona. One in four were not properly restrained. Wearing a seat belt remains one of the easiest, most effective ways to reduce the risk of death and serious injury in a crash.

The Buckeye Police Department thanks the Governor's Office of Highway Safety for its ongoing support of education and enforcement efforts to improve driving habits and keep our roads safe.
