Kansas City Health Department to Host Health on the Block South Edition

Community Block Party Set to Serve Over 600 Attendees October 4, 2025

For Immediate release: Friday, September 12, 2025
The Kansas City Health Department is happy to announce the Health on The Block South Edition, a free community block party happening on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10 AM to 2 PM at Ruskin High School, 7000 E 111th St, Kansas City, MO. The last event in May 2025 at Central High School attracted more than 600 people.

This lively event aims to promote health and wellness in our community. Attendees can look forward to music, giveaways, health screenings, and much more. We invite everyone to join us for a fun and productive day with resources available to help you take charge of your health.

"Going to appointments and managing daily tasks, such as finding out about useful health and household services, can be tough for working families. That's why we're happy to bring fun activities and services for the community on the weekend with the Health on The Block South Edition," said Dr. Marvia Jones, Director of Health for the Kansas City Health Department. "Public health involves ensuring access to screenings and information, as well as connecting residents to resources that will help them lead healthier lives. We'll offer a range of fun activities, health information, and provide on-site help for utility bills to residents."

Residents who need help with their water, gas, and electric bills will be able to get help on-site. Additionally, our Maternal Health program will be present to distribute car seats to families in need, available while supplies last. Childhood immunizations, testing for lead exposure, and sexual health screenings will be available at the event.

Health on the Block is all about bringing the community together and ensuring everyone has access to vital health resources. We look forward to an exciting day where we can connect with community members and help them improve their health and well-being.
