The newest episode of the City of Goodyear's video podcast, Inside Goodyear, is now available. This episode focuses on an important topic for families, students and riders across the city: Goodyear's new E-Bike and E-Scooter Ordinance, created to help keep the community safe as motorized mobility devices grow in popularity.
This episode features an in-depth interview with Goodyear Police Deputy Chief Jose Gonzalez, who breaks down everything riders and parents need to know about the new rules. Deputy Chief Gonzalez explains where e-bikes and e-scooters can be ridden, safety requirements, the reason behind the ordinance and how the new guidelines support both rider freedom and community safety.
"The whole goal of this ordinance is to create an environment where e-bikes and e-scooters can co-exist with pedestrians and other vehicles in a safe manner," said Deputy Chief Gonzalez. "The reality here is mutual respect for everyone on the road and sidewalks."
Deputy Chief Gonzalez also discusses how Goodyear Police is preparing to educate the community and keep streets, sidewalks and trails safe for everyone.
