Increased funding for Civil Protection: Greater safety for citizens and property

The Albanian Government, through the Ministry of Defence, has significantly increased its attention and financial support for the Civil Protection System and emergency management. Dedicated funds for disaster prevention and response have been allocated in the 2026 State Budget.

Pursuant to Law No. 87/2025 "On the Budget for the Year 2026", the following allocations have been approved:

ALL 1 billion in the form of a conditional transfer, divided into ALL 500 million for investments and ALL 500 million for compensation of citizens affected by fires or floods.

ALL 1.5 billion allocated for the financing of projects related to the prevention of natural disasters, as well as ALL 300 million earmarked for projects concerning dams and reservoirs.

The funds allocated to Civil Protection aim to enhance safety against natural disasters, ensure compensation for affected citizens, and strengthen preventive measures to reduce future risks.

The Ministry of Defence remains fully committed to strengthening the Civil Protection system and to reinforcing interinstitutional coordination in order to safeguard citizens from natural disasters.
