Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua Meets with HRCM President, Dr. Aishath Rameela

On August 4, H.E. Ambassador Kong Xianhua met with Dr. Aishath Rameela, President of the Maldives Human Rights Commission (HRCM), and her delegation. Dr. Rameela shared her observations and reflections from attending the 2026 Forum on Global Human Rights Governance in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the field of human rights.  

Dr. Rameela expressed profound admiration for China's remarkable achievements in human rights protection and social development. She noted that China's National Human Rights Action Plan embodies its human rights philosophy and global governance vision, offering valuable inspiration and practical reference for the Maldives and other Global South countries in exploring development paths suited to their national conditions. She also expressed the hope to enhance exchanges and mutual visits with Chinese human rights research institutions to learn from China's experience in safeguarding and advancing human rights.  

Ambassador Kong underscored that a happy life for the people is the ultimate human right. China has always adhered to a people-centred development philosophy, promoting human rights protection and well-rounded human development. China stands ready to strengthen human rights exchanges and cooperation with the Maldives, contributing to the building of a China-Maldives community with a shared future.
