SCO Secretariat participates the Termez Dialogue on Connectivity between Central and South Asia
On June 4-6, 2026, the second meeting of the Termez Dialogue on Connectivity between Central and South Asia was held in Tashkent under the theme: "Peace, Connectivity, Resilience: Shaping the Foundation for Shared Prosperity."
The event was organized by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (ISRS) under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in partnership with the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). It was attended by over 150 politicians, businesspeople, and experts from the CIS countries, Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East.
Opening the meeting, the Director of ISRS, Eldor Aripov, emphasized that the Termez Dialogue is a practical embodiment of the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to strengthen connectivity between Central and South Asia. He noted that the platform's task is to develop cooperation mechanisms, and its activities cover key areas capable of taking interaction to a new level.
In his address at the opening ceremony, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Bahromjon Aloyev, stressed that due to its broad geographic scope and practical nature, the Termez Dialogue is gaining traction as a key platform for developing practical approaches to strengthening interregional cooperation.
Kazybek Kochkonov, Advisor at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, participated in the plenary session "Political Dialogue and Economic Connectivity as Foundations for Sustainable Development in the CICA Region," during which he read out an address of the SCO Secretary-General, Nurlan Yermekbayev. It was noted in the address, among other things, that the Termez Dialogue fully aligns with the Organisation's goals of strengthening peace, connectivity, and sustainable development. Uzbekistan's contribution to the regional agenda, including initiatives in transport, energy, and the economy, was also underscored. The SCO reaffirmed its readiness to facilitate dialogue and practical cooperation, and to make an active contribution to ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

The Termez Dialogue was established in 2025 as a permanent international platform designed to facilitate the practical implementation of the President of Uzbekistan's initiative to strengthen connectivity between Central and South Asia. The initiative has received broad international support and was formalized by a special resolution of the UN General Assembly dated July 11, 2022.
