Sagicor Reflects on the Vibrant Celebration of Creole Heritage Month Across St Lucia and Dominica

Sagicor Life (Eastern Caribbean) Inc: The colours, sounds, and flavours of Creole culture once again filled the air in October as communities across St Lucia and Dominica came alive to celebrate Creole Heritage Month. Sagicor proudly joined in these festivities, standing in solidarity with the people of both islands to honour a tradition deeply rooted in Caribbean identity.

Observed annually since the early 1980s, Creole Heritage Month (Jounen Kwéyòl) pays tribute to the rich language, heritage, and customs of Creole-speaking people. Throughout the month, communities celebrated through traditional food, music, storytelling, crafts, and dress - a living expression of resilience, unity, and pride passed down through generations.

Over the years, Sagicor has embraced these celebrations by encouraging staff in both Dominica and St. Lucia to proudly wear madras and traditional attire, hosting in-branch activities, and sharing cultural expressions that connect staff, clients, and the wider community. These moments of celebration have become opportunities for unity - a way of keeping heritage alive while fostering stronger community bonds.

This year, Sagicor marked Creole Heritage Month with staff and client engagement activities across branch locations, recognising the significance of culture in shaping identity and belonging. Clients experienced vibrant in-branch activities, while team members came together in the true spirit of Jounen Kwéyòl and shared the sights, sounds, and tastes of Creole heritage.
