Sept. 23, 2025 ― DENTON ― U.S. News & World Report recognized Texas Woman's among the nation's best for social mobility and ranked the university's undergraduate nursing and psychology degrees among the country's top programs.
In the social mobility category, U.S. News listed Texas Woman's in the top 16% of institutions that were ranked nationally. Twenty-three of the 37 Texas public universities were named to the list, with Texas Woman's ranking 8th in that category.
The social mobility ranking considers an institution's ability to enroll and graduate large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded Pell Grants as well as the graduation rates of first-generation students. It marked the third straight year the university was recognized as a high performer in the social mobility category.
U.S. News also recognized Texas Woman's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program as the No. 1 program among North Texas public universities, No. 4 among Texas public institutions (and in the top 10% among all institutions nationally), while listing the university's undergraduate psychology program No. 2 among North Texas public universities, No. 8 among Texas public institutions and in the top 40% of all programs nationally.
Texas Woman's undergraduate programs in business and computer science also were recognized by the magazine.
The latest U.S. News rankings mark the fifth time since 2020 TWU's Bachelor of Science in Nursing program has been listed among the top 10% of BSN programs nationally. The publication also has recognized the university's online and graduate nursing programs a combined six times in the same period. The nursing college has programming on TWU's Denton, Dallas and Houston campuses.
The rankings were made public Sept. 23 in U.S. News' 2026 "Best Colleges" guide, which reviewed more than 1,700 four-year U.S. colleges and universities for its annual ranking's edition.
Earlier this month, Niche, an online portal that helps connect students to colleges, listed Texas Woman's in the top 4% of nursing schools in the United States and third out of 25 Texas public institutions. The publication also ranked TWU in the top 8% of institutions offering the best value among 1,563 universities across the country.
