The City of Richardson is holding a fall Bicycle Rodeo on Oct. 11 at Huffhines Park. Scheduled for 10-11:30 a.m., the family-friendly event is an opportunity for children to learn about bicycle safety and test their skills in a variety of games and obstacle courses.
The City partnered with BikeDFW, The Bike Shop, and Bike Mart to present the event, which will feature bike safety check-ups and helmet checks for all ages as well as a bike safety course for children. Children should bring a bike and helmet to participate. City staff will be on hand to discuss recent and upcoming improvements for bicycle safety throughout the city, including installed bike lanes and trails.
An optional online registration for the free event is available at the following link, and registration will also keep participants updated of any changes.
Richardson is recognized as a Bronze-level Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists. In 2015, Richardson was the first in North Texas to be named a Bicycle Friendly Community, a recognition that has been maintained since then with the latest renewal in 2024. To promote safety, the City has installed more than 26 miles of bike lanes and 80 miles of trails that bicycle riders are encouraged to use.
