City Announces Public Access to Ottawa Park Outdoor Rink Restrooms, Completion of New Sidewalk

Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz, alongside City Councilman John Hobbs III and Joe Fausnaugh, Director of Public Service, announced that restroom facilities at the Ottawa Park Outdoor Rink are now publicly accessible and highlighted the completion of a new sidewalk surrounding the rink during a press event on Thursday, June 18.

The project improves convenience, safety, and year-round accessibility for park users by providing access to restroom facilities and enhancing pedestrian access around the rink, one of Toledo's most heavily used neighborhood parks.

Funding for the project included $90,000 in District Improvement Program funding provided by Councilman John Hobbs III, who represents District 1 on Toledo City Council, and about $20,000 in ARPA funding used for sidewalk improvements surrounding the rink.

"This project reflects what residents have been asking for: better access, safer conditions, and improved amenities in one of our most active parks," Councilman John Hobbs III said. "We are proud to deliver a solution that improves usability and makes the park more welcoming year-round."

Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said the improvements reflect the City's ongoing investment in neighborhood parks and public spaces.

"These kinds of projects make a real difference in daily life," Mayor Wade Kapszukiewicz said. "They improve access, improve safety, and help ensure our parks are places where people feel comfortable and supported."

City officials said making the restroom facilities publicly accessible and completing the new sidewalk are part of a broader effort to enhance park infrastructure and ensure facilities meet the needs of residents throughout the year.
