The Dieppe Fire Department invites the general public to celebrate Fire Prevention Week at an open house event on Saturday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the fire station located at 500 Gauvin Road.
People of all ages are welcome to visit the information booths, tour the fire station and fire trucks, enjoy inflatable games, take part in the door prize draw and share a community BBQ in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. This year, the Office of the Fire Marshal's interactive trailer will also be on site, offering a unique experience.
The 2025 theme focuses on the safety of lithium-ion batteries. "These batteries, found in many devices such as toys, power tools, baby monitors, portable chargers, electronics and vaping products, are very energy dense and can be vulnerable to damage, heat and short circuits," explains Fire Chief Marc Cormier.
Fire Prevention Officer Christien Arsenault adds, "For your safety, buy only UL-, ETL-, or CSA-certified products, use the cables provided to recharge batteries, charge your devices on a hard surface and never throw batteries in the trash. Instead, drop them off at one of the region's many mobile Eco Depots."
Come and learn how to prevent fires and discover essential safety measures at this open house event on October 11.
