WASHINGTON - Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that the Lieutenant Colonel Luke J. Weathers Veterans Administration Medical Center in Memphis will receive $8,302,004 in infrastructure improvements in the third quarter of this fiscal year.
The funding includes upgrades of X-ray and MRI technologies, improvements to its food service capabilities and new roofs for Buildings 1, 1A, 5 and 7.
Congressman Cohen, who introduced legislation to rename the medical center for the famed Tuskegee Airman in 2022, made the following statement:
"Our veterans deserve the best. These investments in preventive maintenance and high-tech diagnostic equipment will improve the treatment the facility can provide, and I look forward to seeing these improvements implemented later this year."
