April 9, 2026 - During this spring, California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) has already awarded $189,900 in scholarships for 71 students - 47 of whom currently attend Ventura County high schools. These scholarships reflect CSUCI's continued investment in local students and their families, helping to ensure that a CSUCI education is affordable while supporting an educational experience shaped by close faculty mentorship and hands-on learning opportunities.
To celebrate recipients, Enrollment Management administrators and staff visited 10 local high schools to personally recognize and congratulate students and their families. The visits reflect CSUCI's commitment to building strong relationships with regional schools and helping students see themselves as part of the CSUCI community, or "Dolphin Pod."
"These scholarships are a direct investment in the future of our region and state," said CSUCI Interim President Susan Andrzejewski. "We are proud to support students from Ventura County and beyond as they pursue their educational goals at Cal State Channel Islands."
Of the 71 scholarships awarded, 61% were general and donor-funded awards. Recipients were selected based on academic achievement and financial need, ensuring support reaches students who need it most.
The campus awarded the remaining 39% as Dolphin Promise Scholarships to first-time, first-year students for the 2026-2027 academic year. These scholarships support students who demonstrate both academic merit and financial need but do not qualify for the Channel Islands Tuition Promise (CITP) program.
CSUCI will continue awarding additional scholarships in the coming weeks, along with CITP, which provides the necessary funding to cover the remaining tuition costs not supported by financial aid or scholarships. This provides tuition and fee coverage for students with the greatest financial need, reinforcing CSUCI's commitment to affordability. The CITP program is designed to support first-year students for up to four years and transfer students for up to two years, provided renewal criteria are met.
The University will also host Admitted Dolphin Day on Saturday, April 18, where newly admitted students and their families can learn more about CSUCI. Financial Aid staff will be available to assist students in exploring and applying for additional scholarship opportunities.
Together, these initiatives highlight CSUCI's focus on expanding educational access and student success, and strong partnerships across Ventura County, while ensuring students feel supported, connected, and prepared to succeed during their time at CSUCI and beyond
