New Brunswick Honored for “Safe Routes to School” Program

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (August 10, 2025) - The City of New Brunswick and the Blanquita B. Valenti Community School have each received Silver Awards in the "Safe Routes to School" Recognition Program through the state Department of Transportation for 2025.

The City and the school are being recognized for enabling and encouraging walking and bicycling in our community.

New Brunswick has been a steadfast supporter of promoting the joys of cycling by sponsoring the City's annual Bike Rodeo at Recreation Park, a skills event generally geared toward children. The rodeo features a course to practice and develop skills that will help residents become better bicyclists and avoid typical crashes.
