LOS ANGELES - While the Los Angeles Fire Department has not currently issued a Red Flag Warning, Mayor Karen Bass has directed the LAFD to strategically predeploy personnel and equipment. The Mayor's Office and the LAFD will continue to share updates. The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the mountains of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties beginning 6:00 AM Thursday through 10:00 PM Friday due to moderate to locally strong Santa Ana winds and low humidity in these areas.
"I am in constant communication with Chief Moore, and LAFD resources are being predeployed strategically to keep Angelenos and our hillside communities safe," said Mayor Bass. "While the LAFD has not currently issued a Red Flag Warning, this could change. We will continue to share updates. All Angelenos should sign up for emergency alerts at NotifyLA.org and LAFD notifications at lafd.org/alerts."
The LAFD is predeploying personnel and equipment and has requested additional assistance from CalOES. As of 7:00 AM on Wednesday, October 14, the LAFD has not issued a Red Flag Warning or Red Flag Parking Restrictions. This could change. When a Red Flag Day is declared by the LAFD, parking is strictly prohibited in posted areas within the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones. Sign up for updates at lafd.org/alerts.
