On June 5, 2026, just before 2:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a two-storey apartment fire in the 400 block of Ross Avenue.
Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was already onscene and had extinguished the fire. A 53-year-old man was located deceased within one of the suites. The remaining residents were safely evacuated and nobody else was injured.
The investigation determined that the fire was not criminal in nature.
