Theo Lawrence Celebrates His Texas Community, While Channeling The Kinks & The Byrds, On New Original “Are You Dreaming Of Me” Feat. Phil Hollie

November 6, 2026: Austin-via-Paris songwriter Theo Lawrence returns with new original "Are You Dreaming Of Me" co-written with fellow Texas musician and longtime collaborator Phil Hollie. A celebration of the close-knit home-state music community that Lawrence has built, the track brings together two songwriters whose creative partnership spans continents, from first writing songs remotely while Lawrence lived in Bordeaux and Hollie in Fort Worth, to now sharing Austin as a home. Anchored by rhythmic acoustic guitar and propulsive drums, "Are You Dreaming Of Me" blends their distinct musical sensibilities together - with Everly Brothers-esque harmonies - for a sound that lands somewhere between The Kinks and The Byrds. The track comes in advance of Lawrence's debut album out in early 2027 on Reprise Records (Billy Strings, Neil Young, Brandy Clark).

"My good friend Phil Hollie and I were walking around Little Italy this past summer when an old Frankie Valli hit was blasting off the speakers of a street festival ," says Lawrence. "The next day in New Jersey, while on tour with Alison Krauss, we took inspiration from the sounds of the previous night and wrote this song together."

The track arrives on the heels of a summer spent supporting Alison Krauss & Union Station on a coast-to-coast tour, before making an appearance at Easy Eye Sound's 5th Annual Fish Fry (recapped here by Rolling Stone Country) at AmericanaFest and a Hardly Strictly Bluegrass debut in San Francisco this fall. Lawrence has "proven himself a decidedly prolific and nimble artist" (What Am I Making podcast; listen here) with a breakout year that also saw him make his Grand Ole Opry debut and national TV debut on CBS Saturday Morning, performing album singles "Lonely Too Long" and "Dear Pillow."

"Are You Dreaming Of Me" follows "In My Prime " - penned and recorded in one day with Colton Turner of The Mellows and rock 'n' roll veteran Tjarko Jeen. Other highlights include "Today Is A Good Day" - which Lawrence co-wrote with one of his greatest heroes: Country Music Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame member "Whispering" Bill Anderson, along with "I Love You, Bartender" recorded with acclaimed producer and multi-instrumentalist Chris Scruggs (Sierra Ferrell, Marty Stuart, Loretta Lynn).

Growing up in France, Lawrence was drawn to the music of classic American artists like Charlie Rich, Burt Bacharach, Carole King, Dan Penn and Lee Hazlewood. Now based in Austin, he blends those rich influences with his upbringing an ocean away to create a truly singular sound, one that has led him to share stages with artists like Charley Crockett, Robert Plant, Durand Jones & The Indications and many more. Reverberating with "a sincerity you rarely hear today" (Western AF) the result is a world where French Riviera flourish meets the American motor lodge pool.
