The First Ladies of Lithuania and the Czech Republic visited the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania

Lithuania's First Lady Diana Nausėdienė and Czechia's First Lady Eva Pavlová visited the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania on Thursday.

The Lithuanian and Czech First Ladies viewed the permanent exhibitions at the Palace of the Grand Dukes and gained deeper insight into the historical, dynastic, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries.

Particular attention was paid to the epoch of Vytautas the Great and the history of the Jagiellonian dynasty, which ruled Lithuania, Poland, Bohemia (Czechia) and Hungary, and which dominated much of Central and Eastern Europe in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The influence of the dynasty in the region-often described as Jagiellonian Europe-was discussed in terms of foreign policy development, cultural and artistic thought, the spread of a common architectural style, and the codification of Lithuanian and Czech law.

The valuable experience of Czech museums and experts, which helped restore the authentic interior of the Palace of the Grand Dukes, was also discussed.

"Today, we see how close the historical ties between Lithuania and the Czech Republic are and how they help us to continue and develop bilateral cooperation," said Diana Nausėdienė.

Later on Thursday, the First Ladies of Lithuania and Czechia had a working lunch, where they discussed their social activities, as well as events planned for the first half of 2027 when Lithuania will hold the Presidency of the Council of the EU.

Diana Nausėdienė also presented plans to participate, at the invitation of US First Lady Melania Trump, in an event of the international coalition "Fostering the Future Together" in Washington, D.C. on 25 March, dedicated to promoting children's well-being through innovation, education and technology.
