Dr. Calandra Stringer, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Provost at Tallahassee State College (TSC), has been recognized nationally with the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Distinguished College Administrator Award. It's an accolade to celebrate college leaders who make a lasting impact on student achievement and opportunity.
Selected from among thousands of eligible administrators nationwide, Dr. Stringer was nominated by student leaders for her commitment to fostering academic excellence, meaningful student engagement, and leadership.
At TSC, she has revitalized a culture of scholarship and involvement. When participation in the college's PTK chapter declined, she led a focused effort to rebuild membership, raising expectations while expanding opportunities for students to grow as scholars.
"Dr. Stringer leads with a deep respect for academic excellence and a genuine belief in student potential," said PTK President & CEO, Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner. "Students recognize her for the way she sets high expectations while providing the support and encouragement needed to meet them. Her leadership reinforces a culture where achievement is both meaningful and attainable."
Dr. Stringer will be formally recognized at PTK Catalyst, the organization's annual international convention, taking place March 26-28 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
PTK is the first honor society for students at associate degree-granting institutions, serving more than four million members through over 1,200 chapters nationwide.
