The Boise State University Division of Research and Economic Development appointed their 2025-26 faculty fellows who will help shape the future of research and creative activity.
The fellows are chosen to represent strategic areas of the division's goals:
"We congratulate Dorsey Wanless, Brian Knox, Cynthia Curl, and Kyle Allen on their appointments as faculty fellows. These individuals bring the vision, expertise, and collaborative spirit to advance Boise State's research and creative activity mission." said Nancy Glenn, vice president for the Division of Research and Economic Development.
The Faculty Fellows Program provides faculty a leadership role in research administration, allowing them to influence university strategy, strengthen university-industry partnerships and support the growth of Boise State's research enterprise. Fellows gain hands-on experience in research operations while contributing to decision-making and advancing key projects across campus.
"I am eager to work with faculty across campus to better understand how research activities are currently compensated and incentivized, and to identify what's working and where we can improve," School of Public and Population Health Associate Professor Cynthia Curl said about her role. "My goal is to help ensure our policies are fair and consistent, while also encouraging research growth that stays true to what makes Boise State special: serving our students and contributing in meaningful ways to our region and state."
"I am grateful to serve as a faculty fellow and look forward to working with colleagues to strengthen Boise State's research environment and create more opportunities for faculty and students to thrive," Kyle Allen, associate professor with the College of Business and Economics said.
"The Fellowship Program demonstrates the value of embedding faculty expertise directly into the strategy of the research and creative activity mission on campus. Through this collaboration, their work will help strengthen university-industry partnerships, enhance fairness in faculty compensation, and empower growth of our research faculty across campus," said the selection committee in a joint statement. Committee members included Jana LaRosa, assistant vice president for research advancement and strategy; Matt Smith, assistant vice president for research enterprise services; and Matt Lundgren, assistant vice president for research integrity and infrastructure.
Fellows will contribute up to five hours per week to their assigned initiative while maintaining regular faculty responsibilities. Appointments run from Oct. 1, 2025, through May 10, 2026.
