Tickets, sponsorships available for 2026 Celebration of the Arts
(COLUMBIA, MO) - The City of Columbia in partnership with the State Historical Society of Missouri will present the 2026 Celebration of the Arts on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the State Historical Society of Missouri, 605 Elm St. The event will be hosted by Mayor Barbara Buffaloe and Dr. Lucas Buffaloe.
The annual Celebration of the Arts raises proceeds for the Columbia Arts Fund. As an endowment, the Fund provides perpetual support for Columbia's local arts organizations. Each year, distributions from the fund supplement City dollars to be awarded to local arts and cultural organizations in every field: dance, theatre, literature, film, music and visual arts.
The event will also honor the efforts made by the City's vibrant arts community. At this year's event, we celebrate Columbia's creative community by unveiling the annual commemorative poster (America 250 edition) from local artist Lisa Franko and by paying tribute to an individual who has made significant contributions to the arts through their work with a City-funded nonprofit arts organization.
Growing the Columbia Arts Fund means more arts programs and events in our community, expanding access and appreciation and cultivating Columbia's unique culture.
