Arson Investigation Arrest

On August 15, 2017 at 0334 hours, the City of Riverside Fire Department responded to a medical aid request from Riverside Police Department. The first arriving squad company assessed the situation, recognized that the incident was an actual fire and upgraded the response. Riverside Police had a possible suspect in custody, while the fire department conducted their fire suppression activities at the location.

The City of Riverside Fire Department's Fire/Arson Investigations Unit responded to the scene and conducted an origin and cause investigation. Through the investigation the Arson Investigator was able to determine the fire was intentionally ignited and subsequently arrested Moreno, Daniel, a 32 year old male transient, for arson of an inhabited structure. The arson investigator was able to get his confession which ties him to 5 arson fires in the immediate area.
